Discovery Day 2003

The Big Spring Watershed Association Inc. has an on stream educational, scientific, and fun day on Big Spring Creek once a year. This day is called Discovery Day because we hope the people attending discover something unique about this stream and its biological communities. There is a great amount of community involvement from people who live in the area, including organizations and other conservation groups. Please take a tour with us from the photos from April 5, 2003 Discovery Day.

Past president of BSWA Bill Ferris explains to an interested family how the invertebrates of Big Spring are identified.

A young boy studies an insect larva from Big Spring. Both boys and girls find the macroinvertebrate station a unique experience.

Ralph Shires, one of the BSWA scientists, does a kick sample in demonstrating the technique of collecting macroinvertebrates.

Bill and Linda Franz distribute material on the species of birds found in the Big Spring area.

Local citizens stop by to take a look on Discovery Day.
